YAY WiFi!

Success! We have internet.

Time to go picture crazy.

I found this for Tiffy at a vintage store for 3 Euros!

More pics from Centre Pompidou
This sculpture was huge. It's a bride. A really fat one. But there was so much detail! It's ugly/beautiful.

More balls. See balls of steel here.

Louis Vuitton on Champs-Elysées. 엄마꺼 가방 여기서 샀어! 너무 크지?!

Jess, you'd die in this store.

Centre Pompidou

We have been waiting for Tiff's sister and cousin, and Evelyne to visit to do museums etc. But we were feeling a bit culturally starved, so yesterday we decided to visit Centre Pompidou which is like the MOMA in NY. I love modern art, probably for the wrong reasons.

Look, I have antennae! One of the guards laughed at us while we were taking this.

Am I looking out the window? Nope! I'm looking at a painting!

I miss B&N/Borders, or Trident Cafe on Newbury St. Just somewhere I can sit and read and use free wifi. (I'm paying 2 Euros for 30 minutes here. blah.)
I miss instant food like luna bars and oatmeal that you can just add hot water to.
It's also really hard to be vegetarian in France. I'm really craving a tofu burrito. (They're so good. Don't judge!)

Also, a lot of the Asians here are prostitutes, and I'm pretty sure someone came up to Tiffany and asked her how much she was. As they say in the Mastercard commercial...priceless. Haha.

Protests and Parties

I got an e-mail from my dad today and it cracks me up.

"I heard that you got good shoes, It's ok for me as long as it is comfortable for you I think it's worthfull. Don't worry.
I am glad that you are happy there in Paris. We will get 6 inches snow today so we are staying home.
We all love you Esther enjoy the trip!
see you later.

from daddy"

There was a protest (against the attacks on Gaza) at République, our neighborhood square. Policemen looked like armadillos. Listened to the Les Mis soundtrack when I got home. It seemed fitting.

Also went clubbing until 4 AM. I told Tiffany I was too old for that. But she thinks I'm just a baby.
But seriously, is it too much to ask to be in bed at a reasonable hour? And must the European house music be so loud?! And why can't these youngns start partying earlier so they can end earlier? Like, from 9-2, instead of 12-5. Je me suis couchée trop tard...
Some guys are really attractive and I guess I like them, but I love my feet more.

Mission: Blazer boy.

Je n'ai rien.

Okay, so funny story. Louboutin doesn't do refunds. They only do exchanges and store credit (for the store in Paris) So, oh. Haha. Ha. I just bought $600 dollar shoes. Oh wait, no no. $622 shoes.
I f*ing hate myself so hard right now. I'm such a poopoohead! (haha. n.)
I will never buy shoes ever again...in life. Or maybe I should put my ebay account to use?

Classes are interesting. There's an old boat captain and a nun in our class and things are awkward.
Me: My mom used to be a nun. Clearly, that didn't work out too well for her.
Nun: Oh, so she committed a sin.
Me: Uhhh....

And I swear, she is so touchy with the old boat captain. She always sits next to him and squeezes his shoulders and stuff. Which is like, okay, fine, you don't get to see men ever so I guess I'll let it slide.
I'm going to get like an extra week in purgatory for writing about this woman on my blog, but OMGAHHH, elle m'ennui.

Didn't do much today. We were tired from dealing with le déluge from the night before. But we did go to Le Palais Royale:

The French have balls of steel:

Tiff at Palais Royale:

We STILL don't have our WiFi password yet, so we're sitting in a hotel lobby (the one we had to stay at while they repaired our ceiling) using their free WiFi but the receptionist dude is riding our asses about it and asked us to leave shortly. Seriously? The marginal cost to you is ZERO. Just let me sit here and update in peace.

I can't wait to be in London.

Le Déluge

Bad news first:
Our apartment started leaking from the ceiling and I woke up at 5 in the morning thinking I had fallen asleep outside in the rain.

When the guy came over to check things out, he said, "Urgent?"

Stress levels are supposed to be lower here because Europeans tend to use increased productivity to expand leisure rather than income. But when everybody opts for leisure, who the hell is left to work?
Service is so much better in NYC. The "laid back" culture of Europe is stressing me out.

Tiffany expresses things a little more bluntly: "Don't they know that we're spoiled brats?!" [I know one of my New Year's resolutions was to not be a spoiled brat but maybe I have to start that once I return from France?]

We're in a hotel for the night while they fix things up. Merde.

My confidence has also been shot to hell. I'm much more sure of myself when I have the ability to bitch people out. I can do it in English and Korean. Mandarin too, depending on the situation. French, not so much.

But things could be worse...at least people aren't throwing chicken at me. [I'm so sorry that happened to you, n! Boys are stupid.]

Happier adventures from yesterday:

At lunch.

escargot. [see paragraph 6]

Tiff at Christian Louboutin on Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré.

I must have forgotten that I'm not Paris Hilton, because I bought a pair of Louboutin Mary Janes for $600. Or maybe I thought that they would take me home if I clicked my heels together. In any case, I'm returning them tomorrow. Tell me that they're ugly.
